hand woven cotton
We’re really lucky to have Sri Lankan hand woven fabric from Barbara Sansoni’s Barefoot. Based in Colombo she celebrates so much of the brilliance though the country with its lushness, delicacy, warmth and rich textures. Barefoot began over 40 years ago when Barbara was invited to design cloth for women learning to weave in a rural convent. Barbara still keeps her weaving on a village level, allowing women to gain employment without migrating to cities for work, keeping quality weaving traditions in good demand.
The colours are hand dyed under the brilliant guidance of master dyer Jeremy Marjan, who has been with barefoot nearly since it’s beginning. It’s so rare and refreshing to have their audacity of colour around you, with little concern for edginess.
